Saffron Moon

Saffron Moon made three starts as a 2-year-old in 2021 and won her maiden race in her fourth career outing in her first start as a 3-year-old on April 27, 2022, at Keeneland. She made only one more start that year in an allowance race on Dec. 24 and Tampa Bay Downs and added another win to her ledger.

After winning one of three starts in 2024, Saffron Moon returned as a 5-year-old in 2025 and won her first career stakes race when she took the Grade 3 $175,000 Endeavour Stakes going 1 1/16 miles on the grass at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 1. In the Endeavour, Saffron Moon topped a nine-horse field by 2 1/4 lengths and set a new Tampa Bay Downs Stakes record for 1 1/16 miles on the turf with a time of 1:39.92.

Saffron Moon was back at Tampa Bay Downs for her next logical spot in the Grade 2 $200,000 Hillsborough Stakes going 1 1/8 miles on the turf on March 8. Topping a field of nine horses as the 1.10-1 favorite in the Hillsborough Stakes Saffron Moon stalked the pace throughout, burst past the leaders in the stretch, and held off a late charge by the previously unbeaten Gimme a Nother to win by a length.

Saffron Moon is trained by Chad Brown. She was bred in Kentucky by the sire Malibu Moon out of the mare Crocus Hill by Medaglia d'Oro.
