Artislas

Artislas, a colt from the second crop of sire Catalina Cruiser, won his career debut sprinting 5 ½ furlongs on turf at Del Mar Aug. 2, 2024. He rallied from off of the pace in that contest and drew clear of the field to score by 1 ¼ lengths.

In his next start, Artislas moved up in class to compete in the Grade 3 Del Mar Juvenile Turf Stakes on the track’s Sept. 8 closing day of its summer meet. He drew the inside post and retained the services of jockey Reylu Gutierrez, who settled Artislas in midpack through the backstretch of the one-mile event. Horse and rider found room in early stretch along that rail path, and Gutierrez urged Artislas forward and kept him to task en route to a half-length victory, his second in as many starts.

Kentucky-bred Artislas is trained by Jeff Mullins and is out of the Into Mischief mare Moms Pride. He is from an accomplished female family that includes Belmont Stakes winner and successful sire Empire Maker, millionaire Chester House, and several other notable runners.
