Alesia, Sharon, Bran Jam Stable and Ciaglia Racing LLC

Sharon Alesia, Bran Jam Stable, and Ciaglia Racing LLC have partnered to race Thoroughbreds together for nearly 15 years. Their partnership began with a mare named Cee Dreams that they claimed for $20,000 in December 1999 that trainer Peter Eurton developed into a multiple stakes winner. The group's first Grade 1 win came in 2011, when they partnered along with Rob Dyrdek to campaign 2-year-old filly Weemissfrankie, winner of the Del Mar Debutante (Grade 1) and the Oak Leaf Stakes (Grade 1). The filly finished third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.

Alesia is the widow of Frank Alesia. Frank and Sharon worked in the entertainment industry in southern California. After Sharon bought Frank a racehorse as a first anniversary gift in 1984, the couple raced horses together for nearly 30 years.

Michael Mellen operates Bran Jam Stable. His wife Valerie and daughter Dawn are also involved with the racing stable, and Dawn operates After The Finish Line, an organization that raises money and provides grants to Thoroughbred charities.

Joseph Ciaglia, owner of Ciaglia Racing LLC, took an interest in racing while working at a Ralph's grocery store in Arcadia, Ca. as a teenager. He'd go to the races after work along with Brad Free, a coworker who now works for the Daily Racing Form. Ciaglia owns three businesses, California Landscape & Design for custom municipal and residential landscape projects; California Skateparks which designs action sports facilities, and California Rampworks which manages events.
