Jockey Fernando De La Cruz had his breakout season in 2007 and has been a fixture mainly on the Kentucky circuit ever since with more than 2,400 wins up through December of 2023. De La Cruz won a career-high 207 races in 2016, and 2023 was the best yet in De La Cruz's career in terms of purse earnings when he set a personal all-time best in excess of $6.5 million.
De La Cruz is a multiple Grade 2 stakes-winning jockey aboard such winners as Bucchero (Woodford Stakes), Get Smokin (Kentucky Cup Turf Stakes), and Trademark, winner of the 2023 Clark Stakes at Churchill Downs.
