Flaxman Holdings Ltd. is the racing and breeding operation of the Niarchos family. The late Stavros Niarchos served as a Greek naval officer in World War II and made his fortune in the shipping business.
Stavros began investing in Thoroughbreds in the 1970s. His daughter Maria, one of five children, took over the family's Thoroughbred business after his death in 1996 and operates under the Flaxman Holdings banner.

The Niarchos family campaigned the great sire Nureyev as well as his legendary daughter Miesque, winner of two consecutive editions of the Breeders' Cup Mile. Flaxman Holdings also campaigned Breeders' Cup Mile winners Six Perfections, Domedriver and Spinning World. As of 2007, 121 Group or Grade 1 winners had been bred and/or campaigned by the Niarchos family.
In 2014, Flaxman added to its Breeders' Cup haul when Main Sequence won the Breeders' Cup Turf and Karakontie streaked to a victory in the Breeders' Cup Mile.
Flaxman Holdings has two U.S. stakes winners in 2016, Faufiler and Erupt. The latter is pointed to the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf after winning the Pattison Canadian International Stakes in impressive fashion.
