John and Diane Fradkin enjoyed success with their very first starter in a Triple Crown race when their homebred colt Rombauer won the 2021 Preakness Stakes.
The Fradkins operate a small commercial breeding operation but did not sell Rombauer as a 2-year-old after they deemed interest was scarce when he earned a low speed figure for his debut win in summer 2020. That turned out to be due to a timer malfunction at Del Mar, and the colt gradually developed into one of the best racehorses in his age group over the next several months.

John Fradkin spent several years as a professional horseplayer before starting his breeding business with wife Diane.
