There was no early challenge to Knicks Go in the $6 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic on Saturday at Del Mar – and he was gone.

An epic pace meltdown produced the biggest upset of Breeders' Cup weekend Nov. 6, as Japan-based Marche Lorraine held off Dunbar Road by the slightest nose to win the $2 million Grade 1 Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff.

In winning two earlier Breeders' Cup races Nov. 5-6 at Del Mar, Charlie Appleby experienced varying emotions, watching as a pair of his horses (and nearly a third) were scratched due to unruly gate antics and two runners emerged as victors.

Del Mar hosted the Breeders’ Cup World Championships for the second time on Nov. 5-6, 2021, and fans were eager to enjoy great food and drink, fine fashion, and SoCal socializing along with an abundance of world-class racing.
