all in Breeders' Cup

With a purse of $1 million, Saturday’s Grade 3 FanDuel Turf Sprint Stakes at Kentucky Downs is one of the richest and most competitive races taking place this weekend.

The Grade 2, $1 million Calumet Turf Cup Stakes drew a full field of 12, plus four also-eligible entrants, all vying to win an automatic entry into the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf in November at Del Mar.

Another year, another summer, another exciting race meet at Saratoga Race Course in the books.

As usual, “the Spa” was a steady source of high-class juvenile racing from July through early September. Over the course of eight weeks, we saw a seemingly countless number of promising 2-year-olds take center stage, both in graded stakes and ordinary maiden races.

The path to the 2021 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Del Mar on Nov. 5-6 is a road with plenty of ups and downs as talented racehorses vie for a spot in one of 14 championship races and $31 million in purses and awards.

This blog provides a capsule look at three horses who are heating up on the Road to the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and three horses whose Breeders’ Cup chances are not quite as strong as they were two weeks ago.

One of the highlights of racing at Del Mar each summer is the high-class program of juvenile, or 2-year-old, races conducted at the seaside oval.
