all in Breeders' Cup

The upcoming weekend in horse racing is highlighted by top-level turf racing at Kentucky Downs and the final days of Del Mar’s summer meet in California. Kentucky Downs will host live racing on Thursday, Sept. 7, Saturday, Sept. 9, and Sunday, Sept. 10, the last of which is also Del Mar’s closing day.

In a thrilling edition of the Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes Sept.

The 3-year-olds showed up their older peers in the Grade 1 FanDuel Racing Pacific Classic Sept. 2 at Del Mar, as Arabian Knight held off Geaux Rocket Ride in a thriller that spoke to the quality of both 3-year-olds.

When a jockey wins two races in a single afternoon, he’s enjoyed a successful day. Three wins signifies a banner afternoon and four is bound to generate buzz among racing fans and horseplayers.

But how about seven wins in a single day? Only on the rarest of occasions will a jockey embark on such a memorable win streak. During the first 69 years of racing at Del Mar in California, no jockey managed to win more than six races on a single card.
