all in Triple Crown

Welcome to 2023 Kentucky Derby Prospect Snapshots, where we’ll take a look each week at a recent winner on the Triple Crown trail, usually from the Road to the Kentucky Derby schedule from which the racehorses earn points toward qualifying.

The 1 ¼-mile Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve will be held May 6, 2023, at Churchill Downs.

Each week, members of the national media vote on the nation's top contenders on the Triple Crown trail in the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) Top Thoroughbred Poll.

Week 6 of the 2023 Top 3-Year-Old Thoroughbred Poll conducted by the NTRA covers racing performances through March 14, 2023.

The 3-year-old poll represents horses competing up to and through the Triple Crown. Rankings are based on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-1 voting system. First place votes are in parentheses.

Tom Pedulla is interviewing prominent owners, trainers and jockeys as they travel the Road to the 149th Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve on May 6 at Churchill Downs.

Tom Pedulla presents five key takeaways from an exciting Saturday of racing action that included a significant Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve prep race, the $360,000 Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby at Tampa Bay Downs, and the $350,000

Off poorly and coming under an early drive from jockey Luis Saez when well behind in the $360,000 Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby, Tapit Trice was racing more like a massive longshot than a 1-2 favorite.
