all in Triple Crown

It’s hard to believe, but even in this COVID-19 winter the calendar keeps turning and the final round of preps for the 2021 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve is already upon us with the Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby set for Saturday. The Louisiana Derby is the first prep to offer 100 Kentucky Derby qualifying points to the winner.

Action on the road to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve heats up this Saturday, as Fair Grounds hosts the $1 million Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby.

Making the Grade, which will run through the 2021 Triple Crown races, focuses on the winners or top performers of the key races, usually from the previous weekend, who could make an impact on the Triple Crown. We’ll be taking a close look at impressive winners and evaluating their chances to win classic races based upon ability, running style, connections (owner, trainer, jockey), and pedigree.

Churchill Downs Inc. on Tuesday named Kendall-Jackson and La Crema the preferred wines of the Kentucky Derby from 2021 through 2024 as part of a four-year partnership.

The $1 million, Grade 2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby is the first Road to the Kentucky Derby prep race to offer the winner enough points (100) to guarantee a spot in the starting gate on the first Saturday in May. The winner’s share of $1 million isn’t bad either, but in spite of those two incentives only eight horses were entered in Saturday’s 108th edition of the race.
