Because of the oddity of this year's Triple Crown series, I will continue to provide an occasional rankings column through the end of July just to keep things interesting and updated.

Churchill Downs announced June 25 that after consultation with Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and state public health officials, the 146th running of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve and Longines Kentucky Oaks will occur with spectators under strict guidelines.

Kentucky Derby week will be held Sept. 1-5 with the Oaks set for Sept. 4 and the Derby Sept. 5.

Making the Grade, which will run through the 2020 Triple Crown races, focuses on the winners or top performers of the key races, usually from the previous weekend, who could make an impact the Triple Crown. We’ll be taking a close look at impressive winners and evaluating their chances to win classic races based upon ability, running style, connections (owner, trainer, jockey), and pedigree.
