For over 40 years, Three Chimneys Farm has been a major presence in the competitive Thoroughbred industry. Starting as a small family operation boarding mares in 1972 by Robert and Blythe Clay, the Woodford Co., Ky., farm entered the competitive stallion market in the early 1980s but emphasized quality over quantity in its approach.

Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital has grown from an ambulatory service founded in 1982 serving central Kentucky’s horse farms to an international leader in equine medicine. The facility provides comprehensive medical services for Thoroughbred and other horse breeds, and is recognized for its expertise, innovation, and dedication to the horse industry and to the protection and safe care of each individual animal.

This year, America’s Best Racing and the Retired Racehorse Project will be sharing diaries from several trainers preparing for the 2019 Thoroughbred Makeover competition, scheduled for Oct. 2-5 at the Kentucky Horse Park. This diary is by equestrienne and horse racing industry professional Hillary Ramspacher, who shares how she came to acquire her filly Tapanista that she is training for the Makeover.

Gainesway in Lexington combines a rich history with contemporary success like few other stud farms in the renowned central Kentucky breeding region.
