The list of Triple Crown winners has 13 names on it, each with their own unique path to membership in this elite group of Thoroughbred racing legends. Some started out as second fiddle to a stablemate, only to rise to the top with surprising wins in America’s most famous races. Others showed their quality early, wins in the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes demonstrating the depth and breadth of their talent and heart. Each faced a turning point, a moment when a decision or a coincidence sent them down the path toward glory.

Nine racehorses, six trainers, and one jockey account for the 16 finalists that will comprise the National Museum of Racing's 2023 Hall of Fame ballot, as chosen by the Museum's Hall of Fame Nominating Committee.

Each week, members of the national media vote on the nation's top contenders on the Triple Crown trail in the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) Top Thoroughbred Poll.

Week 5 of the 2023 NTRA Top 3-Year-Old Thoroughbred Poll conducted by the (NTRA) covers racing performances through Feb. 28, 2023.

The 3-year-old poll represents horses competing up to and through the Triple Crown. Rankings are based on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-1 voting system. First place votes are in parentheses.
