Whenever a horse crosses the finish line first in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve, the first person you’ll see and hear a reaction from is the person on their back. The jockey usually gets much of the credit – and sometimes the blame – for a horse’s finish on the track. They’re also the ones who decide where to position their horses in a race, when to make their move for the lead and what path to take in doing it.

The $1.25 million Longines Kentucky Oaks regularly draws the best 3-year-old fillies in the country to Churchill Downs to compete against elite competition in the sister race to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve.

The Breeders' Cup released its 2021 Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series schedule consisting of 84 automatic qualifying stakes races for the Breeders' Cup World Championships. This year’s series, which includes a record nine “Win and You’re In” races for the $6 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic division, will take place in 10 countries.
