Saturday’s card at Santa Anita Park includes the $300,000, Grade 2 DK Horse San Felipe Stakes. Some of California’s top 3-year-olds will square off in the final local prep race for the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby.
Gulfstream Park’s feature race this Saturday is the $415,000, Grade 2 Coolmore Fountain of Youth Stakes. Some of the top 3-year-olds in the country will do battle in this 1 1/16-mile contest.
In the days leading up to the 77th Santa Anita Handicap, the race seemed to generate a throwback feel well before the horses even stepped onto the track.
