Fausto Gutierrez

Fausto Gutierrez has trained for St. George Stable, the racing operation of Mexican billionaire German Larrea Mota-Velasco,  since 1986. He won Mexico’s Triple Crown with Huitlacoche in 2015 and with Kukulkan in 2018.

Gutierrez had never won a Grade 1 race in the United States before Letruska's victory in the 2021 Apple Blossom Handicap. Letruska added Grade 1 wins later that year in the Odgen Phipps Stakes at Belmont Park, the Personal Ensign Stakes Presented by Lia Infiniti at Saratoga Race Course, and the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes at Keeneland.
