Michael Tomlinson was a collegiate baseball player before injury ended his hopes of a baseball career. Tomlinson turned to rodeo, as he had been training horses for one discipline or another since he was a young child.
Since 1991 Tomlinson has worked as a Thoroughbred trainer and is based at Chuchill Downs, not far from his home in Shelbyville, Ky. that he shares with his wife Vicki. He conditions a barn of around 25 horses and has 2015 Breeders' Cup Sprint contender Barbados under his care.
