Always Shopping

Always Shopping finished fifth in her career debut in July 2018 at Saratoga. She ran twice more as a 2-year-old and posted runner-up finishes at Belmont Park in October and Aqueduct in November.

The bay Awesome Again filly made her 3-year-old debut in the Busanda Stakes and was sent off as the 2.15-1 favorite despite being a maiden. She pulled away in deep stretch to post a 1 ¼-length win. In her second start in 2019, Always Shopping punched her ticket to the Longines Kentucky Oaks with another convincing win, edging away late to win the Grade 2 Gazelle Stakes at 1 1/8 miles on April 6 at Aqueduct.

In September of her 4-year-old year, Always Shopping began racing on the grass. The surface switch has paid dividends, as she's won three stakes races on that surface. She won her first graded stakes on grass on Jan. 23 at Gulfstream Park, winning the Grade 3 La Prevoyante Stakes. Always Shopping covered 1 1/2 miles in 2:25.38. She then finished second in the Grade 3 Orchid Stakes on Mar. 27, losing a photo finish to War Like Goddess. In her next start, she was third in the Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes at Belmont Park on May 1.

Always Shopping is one of two stakes winners out of 2011 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Stopshoppingmaria, by More Than Ready. Stopshoppingmaria was raced by Repole Stables and Always Shopping is a homebred of Mike Repole.
