American Promise won his maiden race in the final outing of his 2-year-old season on a muddy track going 1 1/16 miles at Oaklawn Park on Dec. 29, 2024. He began his 3-year-old campaign ambitiously placed for trainer D. Wayne Lukas and finished sixth in the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn on Jan. 25, 2025. He then finished fifth in the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes on Feb. 15 at Fair Grounds.
