Although he had enjoyed some stakes success prior to 2021, Cordmaker broke through that season with four stakes wins. After two third-place finishes to start his campaign, he won the Harrison E. Johnson Memorial Stakes in gate-to-wire style at Laurel Park on Mar. 13.
Although he had enjoyed some stakes success prior to 2021, Cordmaker broke through that season with four stakes wins. After two third-place finishes to start his campaign, he won the Harrison E. Johnson Memorial Stakes in gate-to-wire style at Laurel Park on Mar. 13.
Two starts later, Cordmaker picked up another stakes win when he took the Victory Gallop Stakes at Colonial Downs by 2 1/4 lengths on Aug. 23. He rated just off the pace and moved three-wide to win by 2 1/4 lengths. He ended his season with back-to-back stakes wins at Laurel, taking the Richard W. Small Stakes on Nov. 27 and the Robert T. Manfuso Stakes on Dec. 26.
Cordmaker earned his first graded stakes win on Feb. 19, 2022, when he won the Grade 3 General George Stakes at Laurel as the even-money favorite. Despite racing erratically in the stretch, he had enough left to withstand the challenge of longshot War Tocsin and get the job done. It was his eleventh career win at Laurel, from 27 starts.
