Off an impressive maiden-breaking win at Monmouth Park on June 5, 2021, Double Thunder went off at 4.10-1 in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs on June 26. He came from last to close into a very fast pace and win going away, for his first career graded stakes win.
After a fourth-place finish in the Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes Presented by Miller Lite, Double Thunder bounced back with a win in the Sapling Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sept. 4. He then finished second in the Grade 1 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland on Oct. 9.
