Drum Roll Please won his maiden race in his third lifetime start against 2-year-olds at Aqueduct on Oct. 6, 2023. He was then sent up against stakes competition for his next start which came in the Grade 2 $250,000 Remsen Stakes at 1 1/8 miles at Aqueduct on Dec. 2. He rallied to finish third in the Remsen and for that effort he earned three qualifying points on the Road to the 2024 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve.

Drum Roll Please made his 3-year-old debut in the one-mile $150,000 Jerome Stakes at Aqueduct on Jan. 6, 2023. Sent off as the 3-5 favorite in a field of five, Drum Roll Please rallied from last in a tightly packed bunch and drew off to an easy 3 3/4-length win at the finish. The Jerome was a points race on the Road to the 2024 Kentucky Derby, and for his victory, Drum Roll Please earned 10 qualifying points.
