A son of multiple graded stakes winner Kiss the Kid, Extravagant Kid won his first two stakes races in 2017. On Sept. 17 of that year, he won the Tamani Handicap at Gulfstream Park by 1 1/4 lengths, and followed it up with a 3/4-length score in the Green Parrot Handicap on Oct. 1. Both races were at five furlongs on the turf.
On Aug. 31 2018, Extravagant Kid won the Lucky Coin Stakes at Saratoga. In 2019, he added four more ungraded stakes victories to his credentials.

Extravagant Kid opened his 7-year-old season in 2020 with a 2 ¾-length win in the Sunshine Millions Sprint Stakes Jan. 18 at Gulfstream Park. Two starts later he won an allowance race sprinting on the grass at Churchill Downs
In the fall, he ran second in both the Grade 2 Twin Spires Turf Sprint Stakes presented by Sysco at Churchill and Grade 2 Woodford Stakes Presented by TVG at Keeneland before closing out the year with a fourth in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint at Keeneland.
He opened his 2021 season with a string of second-place finishes in the Janus Stakes and Sunshine Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream Park and the Colonel Power Stakes at Fair Grounds. Trainer Brendan Walsh next shipped the gelding to Dubai for the Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored by Azizi Developments, and Extravagant Kid turned in a career defining performance with a late rally to victory in the Group 1 race at Meydan.
