Flood Zone won his maiden race in his second career start, which was his first start as a 3-year-old on Jan. 4, 2025, in a 6 1/2-furlong race for Florida breds at Gulfstream Park. Coming off that success, Flood Zone was sent to Aqueduct to make his next start in the Grade 3 $300,000 Gotham Stakes going one mile on March 1. Sent off as a 17.80-1 longshot in a competitive nine-horse field in the Gotham, Flood Zone alternated for the lead in a three-horse hunt for the front until disposing of the speed challengers and drawing off through the stretch enroute to a 3 1/4-length win.
