Horologist

Horologist turned heads with a 20 ¾-length runaway win in her career debut Aug. 9, 2018, at Monmouth Park going 5 ½ furlongs on the main track. She tested turf next and finished sixth in a stakes race at Monmouth.

The bay Gemologist filly followed with a third-place finish, beaten by only a neck, in an allowance race on the main track at Parx Racing and closed out her juvenile season with a third in the House Party Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

In her 3-year-old bow, Horologist finished second to Fancy Dress Party in the Glitter Woman Stakes at Gulfstream. She next made her graded stakes debut in the Grade 3 Forward Gal and ran fifth.

Horologist won a one-mile allowance-optional claiming race by 1 ¼ lengths on March 8 at Gulfstream before shipping back north to Monmouth Park where she won another allowance-optional claiming race by five lengths.

Horologist returned to stakes competition for the one-mile Smart N Classy Handicap at Monmouth and led from start to finish in a 1 ¾-length victory for her first career stakes win. Horologist was tested again against graded-stakes competition in the Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks Aug. 17 and aced the test, gamely outfinishing champion Jaywalk to win by three-quarters of a length.

Horologist next ran third in the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing but was unplaced in the final start of her 3-year-old campaign.

Making her 4-year-old bow in the Grade 3 La Canada Stakes, Horologist finished fifth Jan. 11, 2020, at Santa Anita Park. She rebounded to run second in the Nellie Morse Stakes at Laurel Park in March. Unplaced in her next two races, Horologist got back on track at Monmouth Park and improved to 5-for-5 at the seaside track with a victory in the Grade 3 Molly Pitcher Stakes July 18, her first start for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott.

Following that win, Horologist shipped to Churchill Downs and finished third behind champion Monomoy Girl and Lady Kate in the Grade 1 La Troienne Stakes presented by Oak Grove Racing and Gaming on Sept. 4. Mott brought the filly to Belmont Park for her next start, the Grade 2 Beldame Stakes on Oct. 4. She tracked a swift pace set by Letruska through the far turn and effortlessly pulled in front under Junior Alvarado to post fourth career stakes win by three lengths, holding off Point of Honor and Dunbar Road. 

Horologist made her 2021 debut in the Top Flight Invitational at Aqueduct on Apr. 10, 2021. She was rated off the pace by Junior Alvarado, took control entering the stretch, and battled gamely in the stretch to prevail. She finished second in the Grade 3 Suvee Stakes during the summer meet at Saratoga Race Course and followed with a win in the Summer Colony Stakes at the Spa in August. Horologist subsequently led in the stretch of the Grade 1 Beldame Stakes Oct. 10 at Belmont Park but had to settle for second best behind runaway winner Royal Flag.
