Imperador was a two-time stakes winner in his native Argentina. He won the Group 1 Dos Mil Guineas at San Isidro on Aug. 3, 2019, followed by a victory in the Group 1 Miguel Alfredo Martinez de Hoz Stakes at the same track on Feb. 1, 2020.
In 2020, Imperador was shipped to the United States. He earned his first stakes placing in that country on July 17, 2021, when he was second in the Grade 1 United Nations Stakes at Monmouth Park.

He rallied wide and held off the late charge of Arklow to win. With his victory, Imperador earned a spot in the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar on Nov. 6.
