Interstatedaydream

Interstatedaydream, an Ontario-bred daughter of Classic Empire, won her debut on June 25, 2021, at Belmont Park at odds of 3-5, taking a 5 ½-furlong maiden race by a head. Trainer Brad Cox moved her up to graded stakes company for a start in the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 8, and the filly finished a solid second.

That was her final start at age 2, however, and she did not return to the track until March 13 at Oaklawn Park. Interstatedaydream showed no rust whatsoever, taking to a stretchout in distance with gusto, winning a 1 1/16-mile allowance optional claiming race by a widening 8 ¼ lengths.

The filly then started in the Grade 1 Central Bank Ashland Stakes at Keeneland less than four weeks later. She set a contested pace in the April 8 Ashland and while no match for dominant winner Nest she only lost second by a nose.

Cox brought Interstatedaydream back for the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico on May 20, and the filly sat a perfect trip stalking the pace under Florent Geroux before taking over at the top of the stretch. Interstatedaydream easily held off a challenge from California shipper Adare Manor for a breakthrough 1 ¼-length win.

In her next start, the Grade 3 Indiana Oaks on July 9, Interstatedaydream pressed the pace through the backstretch and into the turn and then made a bid for the lead under Geroux but was quickly joined by allowance winner Runaway Wife. That foe put a head in front in early stretch, but Intersatedaydream responded and outfinished Runaway Wife in the final sixteenth to win by 2 ¼ lengths and earn her second graded stakes win in a row.

Interstatedaydream is owned by Flurry Racing Stables, who purchased her for $175,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. April 2-year-old auction in 2021. She is out of the unraced Uncle Mo mare Babcock and is a half-sister to Woodbine Oaks runner-up Emmeline. Canadian Horse of the Year, millionaire and Grade 2 winner Uncaptured is a close relative.
