In Italian (GB)

In Italian had high expectations from the start. This British-bred filly sold for more than $600,000 at the Tattersalls Sale in October 2019. She made her debut in a maiden special weight race at Tampa Bay Downs on Mar. 28, 2021, and finished second, beaten by a neck. She rebounded with a 3 1/2-length win at Belmont Park on May 8, drawing off after setting a comfortable early pace.

Following that win, In Italian went to the sidelines for several months. She returned with a first-level allowance win at Tampa Bay Downs on Jan. 12, 2022. That race set her up nicely for the Grade 3 Honey Fox Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Mar. 5. She set the pace and got the job done for her first graded stakes win.

After leading briefly but fading to finish thing in the Grade 1 Longines Just a Game Stakes, In Italian set the pace in the $500,000 Diana Stakes July 16 at Saratoga Race Course and had plenty left in the stretch as she set a course record of 1:45.06 for 1 1/8 miles to secure her first Grade 1 win. 

Given a brief freshening after the Diana win, In Italian made her next start in the $750,000 First Lady Stakes Presented by UK Healthcare Oct. 8 at Keeneland Race Course. She set an uncontested pace in the one-mile race and held off a late bid from stablemate Regal Glory for a clear victory and her second consecutive Grade 1 win.

In Italian was next sent to the Grade 1 $2 million Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf on Nov. 5 at Keeneland where she was sent off as the second favorite on the tote board in a field of 12 at odds just under 3-1. In Italian went straight to the lead and set an ambitious :22.4 and :46.1 pace on firm turf from post 11 and led until the final sixteenth when she was overtaken by the winner, Tuesday, trained by Aidan O'Brien. In Italian held on for second, beaten one length.

In Italian returned for the start of her 5-year-old campaign on April 15, 2023, in the Grade 1 $600,000 Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland. She was sent off as the .75-1 favorite in a field of six fillies and mares and went straight to the lead and never looked back for a wire-to-wire victory by three lengths. She ran the 1 1/16 miles in 1:39.71 over firm turf with Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard.

In Italian made her next start in the Grade 1, $500,000 Just a Game Stakes June 9 at Belmont Park and delivered yet another dominant win, setting the pace in the one-mile turf race and pulling away from Grade 1-winning runner-up Spendarella for a runaway win in 1:34.

In Italian was shipped to Saratoga Race Course for the Grade 1 Diana Stakes July 15 and set the place in the 1 1/8-mile race before she was caught in the shadow of the wire by stablemate Whitebeam, finishing second by a nose.

Next, in the Grade 1 First Lady Stakes Presented by UK Healthcare Oct. 7 at Keeneland, In Italian again dictated the pace and led into deep stretch before she was caught by stablemate Gina Romantica for a second-straight, tough-luck runner-up finish.

In Italian is trained by Chad Brown. She was bred in Great Britain by the sire Dubawi out of the mare Florentina by Redoute's Choice.
