Just F Y I rallied from off the pace to post a determined victory by a head in her career debut Aug. 26, 2023, at Saratoga Race Course for Hall of fame trainer Bill Mott and owner-breeder George Krikorian.

The bay filly by 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify was next entered in the Grade 1, $400,000 Frizette Stakes Oct. 7 at the Belmont at the Big A meeting. Held on a drenched main track rated sloppy, Just F Y I relished the “off” track and surged away in the stretch to a dominant victory.

Just F Y I made her next start in the $2 million NetJets Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Nov. 3 at Santa Anita Park. She broke well from the far outside post under Junior Alvarado and pressed pacesetting favorite Tamara through the backstretch in second before engaging that foe in the far turn. Just F Y I took over with authority in early stretch and had enough to outlast a late challenge from Jody’s Wish to extend her unbeaten record to three and tally her second Grade 1 win in a row. She earned 30 qualifying points to the 2024 Longines Kentucky Oaks with the neck victory.

Based on her unbeaten 2023 campaign, Just F Y I was honored as champion juvenile female by Eclipse Award voters.

In her first start at age 3, Just F Y I rallied late but had to settle for second behind Leslie’s Rose in the Grade 1 Central Bank Ashland Stakes April 4 at Keeneland. She followed with another runner-up finish against elite competition when running second to Thorpedo Anna in the $1.5 million Longines Kentucky Oaks May 3 at Churchill Downs.

Just F Y I is out of the stakes-placed Street Cry mare Star Act. Just F Y I’s second dam (maternal grandmother) is multiple Grade 1 winner Starrer, by Dynaformer.
