King Cause earned his first stakes win in the Twinspires.com Kentucky Cup Classic Stakes at Turfway Park on April 2, 2022, in a 19.30-1 upset. He set the early pace, pulled clear in the stretch, and held off the late challenge of Turfway stalwart Visitant to win by three-quarters of a length.

The Creative Cause finished off the board in his next two stakes tries over summer 2022 while winning an allowance race at Del Mar in August. Two starts later, he picked up his first graded stakes win Oct. 9 with a pacesetting 15.40-1 upset in the Grade 3 Knickerbocker Stakes at Belmont at the Big A.
King Cause began his career primarily racing in stakes for 3-year-olds on dirt but found his best success on turf and synthetic tracks for trainer Mike Maker at ages 6 and 7.
