After starting her career in her native England, La Dragontea began racing in North America in the spring of 2021, for trainer Christophe Clement. She won her stateside debut at Belmont Park on May 7, but missed the board in her next two races.
After starting her career in her native England, La Dragontea began racing in North America in the spring of 2021, for trainer Christophe Clement. She won her stateside debut at Belmont Park on May 7, but missed the board in her next two races.
La Dragontea bounced back with a sharp allowance optional claiming win at Saratoga on Aug. 20, when she swooped the field from far behind to win going away. On the strength of that win, she was the 1.20-1 favorite in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes Presented by the Japan Racing Association at Woodbine on Sept. 18. She lived up to expectations, winning by a length for her first graded stakes win.
