Lane Way

Lane Way posted top-three finishes in each of his first five career races as a 3-year-old in 2020 but did not reach the winner’s circle until his sixth start on Aug. 22 at Del Mar when he rallied to win a one-mile maiden special weight race by a neck. He subsequently finished third by three-quarters of a length in the Let It Ride Stakes in November at Del Mar before an unplaced finish in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby in his final start as a 3-year-old.

Lane Way raced only twice in 2021, winning an October allowance-optional claiming race by 2 ¾ lengths.

The Into Mischief gelding ran second by a half-length in his 5-year-old bow July 30, 2022, at Del Mar, and followed with another runner-up finish at the seaside track in the Grade 3 Green Flash Stakes Sept. 4, finding his niche as a turf sprinter.

Lane Way returned for his 6-year-old season in 2023 and has his first start of the year in the Grade 3 Green Flash Handicap on Sept. 2 at Del Mar, where he recorded a fifth-place finish. That outing, however, set him up for a top effort in his second off the layoff, and he delivered with a win in his next start which came in the Grade 2 $200,000 Eddie D. Stakes at Santa Anita on Sept. 30. Sent off as the 9-5 favorite in a field of 11 in the Eddie D., Lane Way pressed the pace all the way and took over late to win by a half a length on a turf course labeled good. The race was originally scheduled at 6 1/2 furlongs on Santa Anita's downhill turf course but was moved to a flat 6 1/2 furlongs on the turf.

Corderosa, a Grade 3-placed winner by Aldebaran, is the dam (mother) of Lane Way. Corderosa also produced stakes-placed winner Orecchiette.
