Lugan Knight posted a runner-up finish in his career debut Sept. 21, 2022, at Churchill Downs and followed with a half-length sore as the even-money favorite at Keeneland in a maiden special weight race in October.
In his final start as a 2-year-old, the bay Goldencents colt endured a wide trip in a third-place finish in an allowance/optional claiming race Nov. 26 at Churchill.

Lugan Knight stretched out to a mile for the first time in his 3-year-old bow in the $150,000 Jerome Stakes at Aqueduct Jan. 7. After sprinting exclusively as a juvenile, Lugan Knight relished the added distance as he set a moderate pace and battled gamely late to hold off Arctic Arrogance for a half-length victory in his stakes debut for trainer Michael McCarthy.
Lugan Knight is out of the winning Speightstown mare Sly Roxy and his grandam (maternal grandmother) is two-time Canadian champion Roxy Gap, by Indian Charlie.
