Mr Jefferson broke his maiden in his second career start, and his dirt debut, at Colonial Downs on Aug. 25, 2021. He rated just off the early lead in a six-furlong maiden special weight and pulled clear late to win by two lengths.
After a defeat on turf, Mr Jefferson returned to dirt for a start in a first-level allowance optional claiming race at Laurel Park on Nov. 4, 2021. He won by 1 1/2 lengths while covering 1 1/16 miles in 1:45.43.
