New York Thunder made a dazzling first impression with a front-running 6 ½-length victory Nov. 27, 2022, sprinting on the synthetic surface at Gulfstream Park. He made his next start at Gulfstream in a five-furlong turf sprint in December and won the allowance-optional claiming race by 1 ¾ lengths as the 4-5 favorite.

He made his next start at Gulfstream in a five-furlong turf sprint in December and won the allowance-optional claiming race by 1 ¾ lengths as the 4-5 favorite.
The bay colt was rested for four months before making his 3-year-old bow in the Woodstock Stakes April 30, 2023 at Woodbine. New York Thunder opened a clear early lead in the three-quarter-mile sprint on the synthetic main track and pulled away to a 7 ½-length runaway victory.
New York Thunder made his first start on dirt in his graded stakes debut July 28 at Saratoga Race Course in the Grade 2, $194,000 Amsterdam Stakes, a 6 ½-furlong race for 3-year-olds. Again, he seized command early and surged well clear in the stretch en route to a 7 ½-length romp under Tyler Gaffalione. The Amsterdam was his fourth win in as many starts for trainer Jorge Delgado and owner AMO Racing USA.
New York Thunder set the pace in the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes on the Aug. 26 Travers Stakes undercard and led into deep stretch, but he suffered a catastrophic injury and was euthanized.
New York Thunder was produced by the unraced Midshipman mare Start Over.
