Nobals

Nobals won his maiden race as a 2-year-old during the 2021 Arlington meet and won his first stakes race late in the same meet when he won the $75,000 Arlington Washington Futurity going seven furlongs on a synthetic surface on Aug. 28, 2021. He finished his juvenile campaign in stakes races on turf and synthetic at Kentucky Downs, Presque Isle Downs, and Del Mar, where he recorded a second and a pair of fifth-place finishes.

Nobals made his 3-year-old debut at Turfway Park on Jan. 8, 2022, and was victorious in the $94,000 Turfway Preview Stakes going 6 1/2 furlongs on a synthetic surface. That race began a four-race winning streak for Nobals during the first half of 2022 where he won the $184,000 Animal Kingdom Stakes at six furlongs on synthetic at Turfway, the $128,000 Woodstock Stakes at Woodbine going six furlongs on synthetic, and then scored his first career turf win in a Churchill Downs 5 1/2-furlong allowance turf sprint on June 8.

The next time Nobals reached the winner's circle was in the third start of his 4-year-old season in the Grade 2 $500,000 Twinspires Turf Sprint on May 6, 2023, at Churchill Downs. Sent off as the 38-1 longest shot on the board in a field of 11, Nobals went right to the front and went wire to wire in 1:02.45 for the 5 1/2 furlongs.

Nobals won two more turf sprint stakes races in the second half of 2023 on his way to a start in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. He won a $100,000 stakes at five furlongs at Horseshoe Indiana on July 7 and then he won the $150,000 Da Hoss Stakes at 5 1/2 furlongs at Colonial Downs on Sept. 9.

Nobals made his next start in the Grade 1 $1 million Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint on Nov. 4 at Santa Anita and was mostly overlooked on the tote board at 12-1 odds in a 12-horse field. Expected to contest the pace in the Turf Sprint, Nobals instead stalked the pace in a change of tactics that paid off when he rallied up the rail in deep stretch to win. He beat runner-up Big Invasion by a long neck on the wire in a time of :55.15 for the five furlongs.

Nobals returned for his 5-year-old season in 2024, and it took him four races to finally get back to the winner's circle after losses in races like the Grade 2 Ainsworth Turf Sprint Stakes at Kentucky Downs (fourth) and in the Grade 2 Woodford Stakes presented by FanDuel at Keeneland (fifth). Nobals switched to a synthetic surface and won the Grade 2 $175,000 bet465 Kennedy Road Stakes going six furlongs on the all-weather main track at Woodbine on Nov. 16. He outbattled favorite Patches O’Houlihan to win by three-quarters of a length in a time of 1:08.59.

Nobals is trained by Larry Rivelli for Patricia's Hope Stables. He was bred in Kentucky by the Sire Noble Mission out of the mare Pearly Blue by Empire Maker.
