Ova Charged

Ova Charged began her racing career in the spring of her 3-year-old season and she made a terrific first impression with a 10 ¾-length runaway victory April 8, 2021, at Delta Downs. The chestnut filly by Star Guitar followed with another dominant win, scoring by 5 ¾ lengths in an allowance race on the dirt at Monmouth Park.

Tested next against stakes competition, the Louisiana-bred finished second in the Grade 3 Victory Ride Stakes at Belmont Park. She then closed out her 2021 campaign with back-to-back wins at Fair Grounds, including her first stakes victory in the Louisiana Champions Day Ladies Sprint Stakes. Dec. 11.

Ova Charged went 3-for-3 in her 4-year-old season, winning three stakes races at Fair Grounds by a combined margin of 13 ¾ lengths, including a successful firt foray on the turf when dominating the Page Cortez Stakes by seven lengths.

In 2023, Ova Charged won the Louisiana Bred Premier Matron Stakes and posted her third consecutive victory in the Louisiana Champions Day Ladies Sprint Stakes from four starts as a 5-year-old.

Ova Charged made her 6-year-old bow in the Bob F. Wright Memorial Stakes Jan. 6, 2024, at Fair Grounds and won by 6 3/4 lengths. She then shifted back to grass and won the Mardi Gras Stakes by 5 ¼ lengths before a 12 1/2-length romp March 24 at Fair Grounds in the Page Cortez Stakes.

Ova Charged stayed on the grass and returned to graded stakes competition for the first time in 34 months in the $400,000 Unbridled Sidney Stakes Presented by Resolute Racing on the May 3 Longines Kentucky Oaks undercard at Churchill Downs. She overcame a slow start to duel with  Stone Silent, was headed in the stretch, and then fought back gamely to prevail by a neck on yielding turf.

Ova Charged was produced by the stakes-winning Dehere mare Charged Cotton, a multiple stakes producer.
