Regulatory Risk

Unplaced in her career debut in September 2023 at Churchill Downs, Regulatory Risk showed improvement in her second start when second Oct. 25 at Keeneland behind Tarifa, a filly who would go on to win multiple graded stakes races.

Regulatory Risk earned her first visit to the winner’s circle after her third start, a front-running 1 ½-length victory in a one-mile maiden special weight race Dec. 30 at Aqueduct on a muddy track.

The bay Omaha Beach filly made her stakes debut on a sloppy track in the Busher Invitational Stakes March 2, 2024 at Aqueduct. Her season debut did not go as well as planned as she was beaten by 8 ¾ lengths while fifth behind winner Jody’s Pride. Regulatory Risk made her next start in the Grade 3 Gazelle Stakes, a 1 1/8-mile prep race for the Longines Kentucky Oaks, and led for a moment at the top of the stretch in her graded stakes debut before holding on to finish second behind Where’s My Ring.

Trainer Chad Brown was unsure where to go next with Regulatory Risk, but she came out of the Gazelle in such good shape that he shipped her to Louisville for the $1.5 million Longines Kentucky Oaks May 3 at Churchill Downs and she rewarded him with a third-place finish behind winner Thorpedo Anna.

Grade 2-placed multiple stakes winner Walkwithapurpose, by Candy Ride, is the dam (mother) of Regulatory Risk.
