Shamrock Rose

Shamrock Rose won the Ontario Debutante Stakes by 1 1/4 lengths in her career debut in September 2017 at Woodbine and then ran second to Wonder Gadot in the Grade 3 Mazarine Stakes in October. 

After an unplaced finish in her first try on turf, Shamrock Rose returned to the main track and finished fourth in the Busher Stakes and second in the Cicada Stakes in her first two races as a 3-year-old. Following a third-place finish in the Weber City Miss Stakes at Laurel Park, Shamrock Rose regained her top form with a 10 14-length runaway victory in the Malvern Rose Stakes at Presque Isle Downs. She next returned to Woodbine, where she posted an easy victory in the La Lorgnette Stakes.

Trainer Mark Casse subsequently tested her again in graded stakes company in the Grade 2 Lexus Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland Race Course in October 2018 and Shamrock Rose was up to the task. She took command in deep stretch and pulled away to win by 2 ½ lengths under Tyler Gaffalione.

Shamrock Rose next took a major class test when she was entered in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint on Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs. She again rallied from off the pace and reeled in Chalon in the closing strides to earn a career-defining victory.

Her emergence during the fall put Shamrock Rose in the running for an Eclipse Award, and she was voted champion female sprinter of 2018 over Marley’s Freedom.

Shamrock Rose returned to racing in January 2019 with a fourth-place effort in the Fasig-Tipton Hurricane Bertie Stakes. She subsequently ran third behind multiple Grade 1 winners Midnight Bisou and Elate in the Grade 2 Azeri Stakes on March 16 at Oaklawn Park.
