Straight Up G won his first stakes race on Dec. 12, 2021, when he won the King Glorious Stakes in a gate-to-wire 3 1/2-length victory. He set the pace and was challenged nearing the half-mile point, but drew off late for the win.
After a second-place performance in the California Cup Derby, Straight Up G won the first stakes race of his 3-year-old season on Feb. 27, 2022 in the Mine That Bird Derby at Sunland Park. He set the early pace and had a clear advantage turning for home, and held off the strong late rally of Bye Bye Bobby to win by three-quarters of a length.
