Super Ocho began his career in his native Chile, where he won three of 12 races and finished in the top three in four other starts. Among his victories were a pair of Group 2 wins during his 2-year-old campaign in the El Estreno Nicanor Senoret Stakes and a 5 ¼-length romp in the Copa de Plata Italo Traverso.
