A native of Sacramento, Calif., Ferrin Peterson began her career in her home state before moving to ride primarily at Monmouth Park and Aqueduct in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. She picked up her first stakes win at Monmouth that year aboard Share the Ride, and found more opportunities after relocating yet again in 2021, this time to Kentucky which allowed her to ride at several tracks throughout each season in the Bluegrass state as well as in Ohio and Indiana.

Peterson began to build business back up in 2022 and 2023 by gaining mounts from leading circuit trainers such as Mike Maker and Brad Cox, winning two stakes races for Maker on the Best of Ohio card in June 2023 at Belterra Park.
