Lordan recorded his first victory aboard Ethbaat at Killarney on July 15, 1998, and he rode regularly for David Wachman and Tommy Stack early in his career. He won his first Group 1 race on Sole Power in the 2010 Nunthorpe Stakes at York for trainer Eddie Lynam.
In 2017, Lordan became a stable rider for the powerful Ballydoyle operation of trainer Aidan O’Brien and it was on an O’Brien-trained runner that Lordan earned his first classic victory when guiding Winter across the finish line first in the 2017 English One Thousand Guineas.
