Born December 2, 1987, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Perez began his riding career in the U.S. at Charles Town and rode there for five (5) years prior to moving his tack to Maryland in September, 2011. In 2011, Perez finished 10th in the Maryland standings with 39 victories, including 32 during the Laurel Park fall meeting. His first career winner was Danger Quest at Charles Town on August 25, 2007. One of the highlights Perezs career was when he teamed up with trainer Jeff Runco to win the $500,000 2010 West Virginia Breeders Cup Classic with Sea Rescue at odds of 57-1.
