Starship Jubilee

Starship Jubilee broke through for her first win in her second-career start. She won two of her first seven races at two and three, before really putting it together at four. She won her season debut in 2017 b efore a runner-up finsh. She then posted three allowance wins before securing her first career stakes victory with an impressive rally to prevail in the Grade 2 Nassau Stakes at Woodbine.

In her next start, the Indy Wind filly held on to score another graded stakes win at Woodbine, taking the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes in a dead heat with Rainha Da Bateria. In her final three starts of 2017, Starship Jubilee finished third twice and was unplaced once.

Starship Jubilee regained her winning form in her 2018 debut in the Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Stakes, which she won by a length in January at Gulfstream Park. She subsequently ran second in the Mary Todd Stakes in February, also at Gulfstream, before returning to Woodbine and finishing unplaced in back-to-back starts.

After a confidence-building win in an optional claiming race, Starship Jubilee powered to a dominant victory over a top-class field in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes Presented by the Japan Racing Association on Sept. 15 at Woodbine. Starship Jubilee finished fourth in the Grade 1 E. P. Taylor Stakes and the Claiming Crown Tiara Stakes to close out her 2018 season.

Starship Jubilee opened her 6-year-old campaign with a 4 ½-length win in the Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Stakes Jan. 19 at Gulfstream Park. She then ran second in both the Grade 2 Nassau Stakes and Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes, both at Woodbine, before finishing third in the Grade 2 Ballston Spa Stakes at Saratoga Race Course in August. She regained her top form with a front-running, 4 ¼-length win in the Canadian Stakes Presented by the Japan Racing Association at Woodbine Sept. 14.

Starship Jubilee made her next start in the Grade 1 E. P. Taylor Stakes Oct. 12 at Woodbine, a race that she led late in 2018 before fading to fourth. The bay mare stalked the pace from second, opened a clear lead through a mile in 1:40.79, and dug in gamely to post a clear win and earn her first Grade 1 victory. Starship Jubilee finished second in the Grade 3 Cardinal Handicap in her final race in 2019. After the season, Starship Jubilee was named the Sovereign Award winner as Canada's champion turf female for the third consecutive year and also earned that country's most prestigous award as she was named Canadian Horse of the Year.

The Indy Wind mare began her 7-year-old season with a front-running, 3 ¼-length win in the Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Stakes at Gulfstream Park, and she followed with a convincing victory in the Grade 3 Suwanee River Stakes Feb. 8 at the Hallandale, Fla. track. Starship Jubilee remained razor sharp in her next start with a visually imprssive victory at Tampa Bay Downs in the Grade 2 Hillsborough Stakes. Matching up against U.S. champion Sistercharlie in the Grade 2 Ballston Spa Stakes July 25 at Saratoga, Starship Jubilee was taken back off the pace set by Sistercharlie's stablemare North Broadway, closed ground on the final turn, and powered to the front in early stretch. Call Me Love battled gamely with Starship Jubilee and Sistercharlie rallied belatedly, but Starship Jubilee would not be denied and won by a neck.

Starship Jubilee faded to finish fourth in the Grade 1 Diana Stakes Aug. 23 at Saratoga Race Course. The gallant 7-year-old mare bounced back at an opportune time in her next start as she surged to the front in the stretch of the Grade 1 Ricoh Woodbine Mile and held off fast-finishing March to the Arch to defeat male in a Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series “Win and You’re In” race for the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile Presented by PDJF Nov. 7 at Keeneland.
