Street Lute

A Maryland-bred daughter of Street Magician, Street Lute sold for $10,500 to Jerry Robb at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall Yearling Sale in 2019.

In her 2-year-old season in 2020, Street Lute won four stakes races, and narrowly missed a fifth. She won the Small Wonder Stakes at Delaware Park on Sept. 26, the Smart Halo Stakes at Laurel Park on Nov. 14, the Maryland Juvenile Fillies Championship at Laurel on Dec. 5, and the Gin Talking Stakes at Laurel on Dec. 26. In between, she was second in the Maryland Million Lassie Stakes at Laurel on Oct. 24, beaten a neck by Miss Nondescript.

Street Lute started her 3-year-old season in style, taking the Xtra Heat Stakes on Jan. 16 and the Wide Country Stakes on Feb. 20. Both of those wins came at Laurel. However, she saw her win streak snapped next out, when she was third in the Beyond the Wire Stakes on Mar. 13. 

Street Lute stepped up to graded stakes company for her next start, and tried the Grade 3 Miss Preakness Stakes on May 14. She finished sixth, beaten 6 1/2 lengths, after an awkward break. She won the Stormy Blues Stakes at Pimlico next out on June 13, recovering from a slow break to prevail by half a length. After missing the board in her next two stakes starts, Street Lute bounced back with a win in the Tax Free Shopping Distaff Stakes at Delaware Park on Sept. 25. That win marked her first victory outside of Maryland.
