Miles D, a $470,000 yearling purchase by co-owner Peter Brant, finished fourth in his debut on Oct. 11, 2020, in a competitive maiden race at Belmont Park that produced subsequent Triple Crown prep stakes winners Greatest Honour, Caddo River, and Bourbonic. The Chad Brown-trained Curlin colt missed those preps and the Triple Crown series due to injury but returned impressively with a 2 ¼-length score in a one-mile maiden at Belmont on June 12, 2021.

In his next start, he finished a good second behind Dynamic One in the listed Curlin Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on July 30. He then finished third in his graded stakes debut behind Essential Quality and Midnight Bourbon in the Aug. 28 Runhappy Travers Stakes.
Miles D won his first stakes race on Nov. 27, when he won the Discovery Stakes at Aqueduct. He chased down the favorite, Speaker's Corner, in the stretch and got up for the victory at 2.60-1.
Miles D is out of the unraced Bernardini mare Sound the Trumpets, a half-sister to champion Storm Flag Flying out of the Grade 1 winner and blue hen mare My Flag.
