Songline won two of her first three starts in her native Japan but was not quite ready for elite competition in her stakes debut when unplaced in the 2021 Oka Sho (Japanese One Thousand Guineas) in just her fourth race. She bounced back with a second-place finish by a nose in the Group 1 NHK Mile Cup in her next start and earned her first stakes win later in her 3-year-old season in the Group 2 Fiji Stakes Oct. 23, 2021, at Tokyo Racecourse.

Songline prevailed by a neck over American Grade 1 winner Casa Creed in the $1.5 million STC 1351 Turf Sprint Stakes in Saudi Arabia in her 4-year-old debut against males, and in June punched her ticket to the 2022 FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile Presented by PDJF with another victory against the boys in the Group 1 Yasuda Kinen.
