Private Creed

Private Creed won his 2-year-old career debut outing in a 5 1/2-furlong turf sprint at Ellis Park on July 30, 2022. He went on to win two of his next three outings with wins including the $500,000 Juvenile Sprint going 6 ½ furlongs at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 8, and then another stakes win on Oct. 9 in the $250,000 Indian Summer Stakes at Keeneland going 5 ½ furlongs.

With a course-and-distance victory under his belt at Keeneland, Private Creed was pointed to the Grade 1 $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint for his next start on Friday, Nov. 4. In the Juvenile Turf Sprint, Private Creed finished third under jockey Joel Rosario.

Private Creed returned to the races for the start of his 3-year-old season with a second-place finish in the Bob Bork Texas Turf Mile Stakes at Sam Houston on Jan. 28, 2023. He later finished second in the Mahony Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 13.

Private Creed got back into the winner's circle for the first time as a 3-year-old when he won the Grade 2 $1 million Exacta Systems Franklin-Simpson Stakes on Sept. 9 at Kentucky Downs. In the rich 6 1/2-furlong turf sprint for 3-year-olds, Private Creed rallied from mid-pack past the leaders in the long Kentucky Downs stretch to get the victory by a widening 2 1/4-length margin.

Private Creed is trained by Steve Asmussen. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Jimmy Creed out of the mare South Andros by Sky Mesa.
